Being wrong, on the record.

A reference only earns trust if it can change without pretending it was always right.

· Paper Folding

The fold-42 estimate used the wrong power of ten, and its increment was described imprecisely.

Previous: the rebuilt-model estimate printed 0.1 mm × 10⁴ × 4, even though four groups of ten doublings contribute approximately 10¹². The hook and explanation also said fold 42 added as much as the first 41 folds “combined.”

Corrected: the estimate now reads 0.1 mm × 10¹² × 4 ≈ 4 × 10⁵ km. Fold 42 adds exactly the thickness already present after fold 41; it exceeds the sum of the earlier fold increments by the original 0.1 mm sheet thickness.

Evidence and impact: the exact model remains t(n) = 0.1 mm × 2ⁿ, so the headline result—about 439,805 km at fold 42—did not change. The correction updates the mental shortcut, hook, reveal wording and transfer examples; the interactive calculation itself was already using the correct formula.
